The Literal Context
You have chosen to use the Research Observatory in the literal context. In this context the site is divided into topic areas. Each topic area contains a number of learning units; a learning unit being a collection of resources about a particular subject related to research. Within each learning unit you will find a contents page to help you find your way around that subject, a further reading list, a glossary of terms and a set of learning materials. The learning materials are split into three types:
- Explore - these provide you with information about that topic
- Engage - these give you an opprotunity to interact with the ideas and with activities to help you to understand the topic
- Apply - these activities encourage you apply the topic to your own research interests
Below, you will see the site map that gives you an overview of the contents of the site. You can click on any of the topic areas or learning units to go directly to them. Once you are in a particular topic you can navigate around it, and between it and other topics and learning units, using the text in the left navigation panel.
